Genuine, down-to-earth songwriter and pianist Eva Gertz hails from Massachusetts, raised by a jazz bassist father and a visual artist mother. Reflective, honest, relatable lyrics and a moody Joni Mitchell-informed writing style flow expressively like the characteristic curls atop her head. With training in classical piano from a young age, and a degree from Berklee College of Muisc, she demonstrates some impressive arranging and orchestration chops. Some songs take to a groovy world-fusion blend, while others are more folksy or pop-driven. The constant threads are her colorful piano playing, story-telling voice, and her whimsical aesthetic. Eva is currently based in Brooklyn, NY, eagerly expanding with interdisciplinary collaborations such as her 2020 music video “Birch Trees,” which joined forces with contemporary dance duo QA Productions. Her debut album was released June 2018 and features her original watercolor artwork, a medium that makes appearances in her work quite frequently.
