Born in New York to Dominican parents, Cast spent his formative years in the South Bronx (known for being the birthplace of hip hop and graffiti culture) before moving to North Jersey. He first started writing music in middle school, uploading his first songs to the Soundcloud community in early 2014. He wrote and recorded himself over instrumentals from classic hip hop albums, YouTube producers, and his own production vault. Upon dissatisfaction with the direction of his mixtapes and performances, he began producing and releasing his own original music as CAST. Frequently described as an anomaly on and off stages, Cast’s work is eclectic, balancing between introspection and high-energy. He writes, produces, records, mixes and masters all of his music while directing and editing his videos, opting to see the world through different perspectives at the cost of his own comfort. Such a sacrifice is rudimentary to his work, where blurring the line between impression and expression seems to be necessary.
