Songwriter Coco Martin aims to bring life to forthcoming and cutting lyrics about growing pains, social identity, and romantic entanglements with vibrant and nostalgic new-wave and alt-pop/art-pop sensibilities. She lays it out – faults and all – to connect with listeners on a deeply human level, as a reminder of the commonalities in our experiences with heartache and existentialism. It’s with those connective elements with which Coco has watered her roots into Denver’s rich DIY music and arts community. Enter: Gartener. A group of musicians brought together by enthusiasm for her songs, they boast uplifting and sparkly arrangements, powerful vocal performances, and compelling storytelling through the marriage between the stories and graceful instrumentation in their songs. The members of Gartener are Coco Martin singing and playing rhythm guitar, Matt Murray on lead guitar, Chris Hendrick on drums, Tyler Rembold on keys, and Coco’s little brother, Konrad Martin, on bass. With their positive energy and sentimental sound, they hope to be a refreshing new part of the soundscape of Denver’s local music scene.
